Tips for using Yishow

Tips for using Yishow
  1. A BMP format image in 160x160x256 colors will come out the best result
  2. Palm m505 can not display a image file larger than 280x280x16 bit color or 400x400x256 colors
  3. It is better not check Maintain Ratio in setup menu when make an image fit screen
  4. It is a good idea to use different folder to manage different images.
  5. It is a good idea to use slide show function at meeting to show various images to customer. Put images will used in slide show in a same folder and tap show. Delay second can be configured in setup menu.
  1. It is better to save map in 256 colors and PCX format. A map with 16 grayscale will display slower because of hardware restriction.
  2. When saving a PCX format image, try as much compressed as possible because this will greatly increase the display speed of this type of map.
  3. In order to increase the compression ratio, try to use a map with no background or have just a simple background. If a map is scanned by scanner, try to reduce the color to 16 grayscale first and then increase to 256 colors. Keep in mind that the lower the color resolution the more the compression can be made.
  4. Rather than find a target in a large map by using drag, make the map to fit screen first, then use stylus to point out the likely position of the target.
  5. When displaying an image, the image will temporary keep in Ram before gets back in directory tree. So it will not slow down when switching from display of original size and fit screen size.
  6. When display a map using fit screen, it is better to check Maintain ratio option.

FAQ

Use memory card reader to move files.

Because of hardware restriction, displaying speed will slow down when trying to display an image larger than 280x280x256 colors

At this point, Yishow will only support 256 colors/24 bit color uncompressed BMP file and 256 colors/24 bit color PCX file. More supported file size will be available in next version of Yishow.

The image is larger than the max size which Yishow support.
