================================================================================
  9. Working with Search Results
================================================================================

[Switching result tabs]
  Search results are shown across four tabs: "Spreadsheet", "Document",
  "Text", and "Searched Files".
  - Spreadsheet tab : results from table-style files such as Excel,
                         OpenDocument, and CSV
  - Document tab : results from document files such as Word,
                         PowerPoint, PDF, and OpenDocument
  - Text tab : results from searching text files such as .txt /
                         .csv / .log / .md
  - Searched Files tab: the list of files scanned in this search
  - You can reorder the tabs by dragging a tab header.

[Double-click a result to open the file]
  Double-clicking a row in the result list opens the original file in the
  configured app.
  You can set the app under the menu bar's "File settings" -> "Open with",
  separately for each search target.
  The drop-down menu lets you choose from Recommended, Associated, and
  Custom apps. The priority order shown in the drop-down menu is as follows
  (apps that are not installed on your PC are not shown in the drop-down
  menu):

  - Microsoft Excel files (.xlsx .xlsm .xls) / CSV (.csv)
      Excel -> LibreOffice -> associated app
  - Microsoft Word files (.docx .docm)
      Word -> LibreOffice -> associated app
  - Microsoft PowerPoint files (.pptx .pptm .ppsx)
      PowerPoint -> LibreOffice -> associated app
  - OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods)
      LibreOffice -> Excel -> associated app
  - OpenDocument Text (.odt)
      LibreOffice -> Word -> associated app
  - OpenDocument Presentation (.odp)
      LibreOffice -> PowerPoint -> associated app
  - PDF (.pdf)
      Default PDF app
  - Text in general (.txt, etc.)
      Jump-capable editor (Notepad++ -> Sublime Text -> Sakura Editor) ->
      default editor / Notepad
  - Markdown files (.md)
      Built-in viewer (a viewer that can show the source and the preview
      side by side)

================================================================================
  10. File Export (Format Selection)
================================================================================

You can save search results to a file in one of four formats: CSV, Excel
workbook (.xlsx), JSON, or Markdown table (.md); the same rows and values
are exported regardless of format. The export covers the results shown on
the currently displayed tab. The columns are fixed as follows (the
on-screen "Ext" and "Folder" columns are not exported):
  - Spreadsheet tab : File Name / Sheet / Cell / Category / Type /
                       Value (formatted) / Value (raw)
  - Document tab : File Name / Page / Category / Matched Text
  - Text tab : File Name / Line / Column / Line Content

================================================================================
  11. Menu Bar Operations (File Settings, Color Theme, Language, Options, Help)
================================================================================

The menu bar at the top of the window has five items, from left to right:
"File settings", "Color Theme", "Language", "Options", and
"Help". Clicking "File settings" or "Help" opens a drop-down list below it.

  - File settings -> "Search targets", "Open with"
  - Help -> "Try with samples", "Welcome screen" (a divider),
                     "Help", "Searchable Files", "Double-click action in
                     the match list", "Licenses (third-party)",
                     "Privacy policy", "About"

================================================================================
  12. Notes and Limitations
================================================================================

[About checking search results (important)]
  - Search results can miss matches (results that should appear but do
    not) or contain false matches. This can happen because file
    encryption, password protection, corruption, or format differences
    can prevent part or all of a file's content from being read (when a
    file cannot be read, the reason is shown in the Note column of the
    Searched Files tab).
  - For important business decisions or verification work, do not rely on
    the search results alone -- always check the original file directly.
  - This software is provided AS-IS and does not guarantee the
    completeness or accuracy of search results.

[Files containing macros]
  - Searching itself never runs macros (this tool only reads the contents
    of files).
  - However, if you double-click a result to open an .xlsm / .docm /
    .pptm file, that file is opened in Office, so whether its macros run
    depends on Office's macro security settings. Be careful when opening
    files you do not trust.

[File access]
  - An Excel file that is open and being edited in another app may not be
    searchable.
  - If a file being edited was in the middle of being saved, it may be
    searched using its old (pre-save) content, or it may be reported as
    unreadable. Save a file before searching if you are editing it.
    (This tool only reads files; it never modifies them.)
  - Password-protected files are skipped.
  - Corrupted files are skipped.

[Processing speed]
  - Searching a large number of files, or very large files, takes time.
  - Because the search processes multiple files in parallel, more CPU
    cores means faster searches.

[Double-click to open the original file]
  - Depending on the version of the app configured under Open with, the
    actual behavior may differ from what is described in this manual or
    in the app's own explanations.

[About temporary files]
  - Using the "Make a table of matching rows" button creates an Excel
    file that gathers the matching rows into one workbook in the
    temporary folder (%TEMP%) and opens it in the default app. Because
    this file contains the actual content of the files you searched,
    be careful when searching content that includes sensitive
    information.
  - Files older than 24 hours are automatically deleted when the app
    starts (newer ones are kept).
  - On a shared PC, or a PC you take outside your organization, you can
    also delete these files manually. Type %TEMP% into File Explorer's
    address bar to open the folder.

[About settings data when uninstalling]
  - During uninstallation you are asked "Also delete the settings (the application
    data folder)?" Choosing "No" keeps your settings, which carry over if you
    reinstall. Choose "Yes" if you want to delete everything completely.

[About using multiple windows]
  - You can run more than one instance of this software at the same
    time. Clicking a second or third icon opens another window (there is
    no restriction such as "already running").
  - Each window can have its own search folder, search text, and options,
    and can run searches independently (for example, searching
    "Folder A" in one window while searching "Folder B" in another at the
    same time).
  - Settings (the contents of the Options window), folder history,
    favorite folders, search term history, and window size/position are
    all shared across every window, using a single storage location per
    PC. If you change settings in multiple windows at the same time, the
    content from whichever window is closed (saved) last is the one that
    remains. If you want to avoid losing changes, make settings changes
    in one window before opening others.
  - Search results and search conditions themselves are independent per
    window and are never overwritten by a search in another window.

[About trademarks]
  - Microsoft, Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are trademarks of the
    Microsoft group of companies.
  - Other company and product names mentioned in this document are
    trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners.
  - This app is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of
    these companies. Their product names are referenced only to explain
    supported formats and integrations.

[About the clipboard]
  - Right-clicking the result list and choosing "Copy" places the cell's
    content on the clipboard. The same happens when you press Ctrl+C over
    selected rows (the entire row is copied in TSV format). Because other
    apps can also read the clipboard, be careful where you paste results
    that contain sensitive information, and consider overwriting the
    clipboard (for example, by copying something else) once you no longer
    need it.
